A referral! What’s in a referral?

Dearest friends and family,

It has been a few months since we have updated you all, because of that I’ll give you a quick recap.

We received our approval to adopt through the Chung Yi Orphanage in Taiwan back in February. (Praise God) Almost immediately we were presented with a match with a very special boy. We spent several days in prayer about it, and Lloyd and I came to the same conclusion. He was not to be our son. This shocked us both, because we never would have thought we would turn down a referral. I mean, who turns down a kid? Answer: we did. However, the match felt wrong in our spirits. We felt like God was calling us to a sibling group. So with heavy but expectant hearts we declined the referral. Happily though, since then this boy has been matched and I assume is home with his forever family or at least getting close to his “Gotcha Day”! Praise God! He didn’t feel like our kid because God had another family for him!

After this we waited,  March turned to April, and April blew into May.  May faded and June scorched in. Our days were spent in prayer and longing to see what the Lord had for us. In July, Lloyd and I decided a change of scenery was needed. So we packed up the kiddos and headed to the beach where we shared a condo with my brother and his precious family for a few days.

The day after we arrived we got an email. (By the way, at this point, every time we got an email we jumped out of our skin.) This email had a file attached to it for our adoption. We reviewed the file, prayed hard, sent the file to a Dr for her to evaluate, and heard a peaceful “yes” from the Holy Spirit. We asked to be considered for this match. A few days later we found out we were approved by our agency for this match. (Yay God!) Then a week or two later we found we were approved by the orphanage for this match. (Praise God!)  We then spent the next 8 weeks in nonstop prayer!!! Last Monday we found out that we were approved by the Taiwanese Government to pursue this match for adoption!!! WOW GOD!!!

What does that EVEN MEAN?!?!?!

It means that now we wait for our dossier documents to arrive. (They should be here in a few days.) It means we will be working like crazy to get them all filled out and notarized. It means fundraising and waiting on the Lord to provide a CRAZY amount of money so we can write a check to submit with our completed dossier, and it means that we begin the final stages of the adoption process.

The final stages of the adoption process are: submit our dossier with second set of fees, await the final ruling court date which is what makes the referral officially our child, and then wait for our “Gotcha Day”.
With that being said, we would like to introduce you all to our intended adoptee:

We do not have “official names” for them yet, but for now we are calling them Penelope Grace and Phoebe Joy; our intended 4 year old twin girls.  Of course Micah is calling them “Pippin” and “Pheebs”. Please join us in praying for them as we begin these last few legs of the journey to become their FOREVER FAMILY! Also, if you feel led to help you can donate at our Go Fund Me page. Please feel free to share our blog as well!
